Mold keeps 900+ Del Sur Elementary students off campus until 2027

Poway Unified says Del Sur Elementary won't reopen until at least January 2027 as mold and moisture work continues, keeping more than 900 students at nearby Stone Ranch Elementary.

More than 900 Del Sur Elementary students will stay off their own campus until at least January 2027 as Poway Unified keeps working through moisture and mold problems — far longer than the roughly one-month relocation first floated.

The students moved to nearby Stone Ranch Elementary, pushing that combined campus to about 1,500. Crews have cleaned ductwork and run air scrubbers and dehumidifiers, and the district says students will return only after testing, professional review, and objective evidence that the campus is safe.

Officials had initially hoped to have children back by September 21.
