Mold keeps Del Sur Elementary students out of their school until 2027
Poway Unified now says Del Sur Elementary won't reopen until at least January 2027 as mold and moisture work continues, extending students' stay at Stone Ranch Elementary.
Del Sur Elementary students in the Poway Unified School District won't return to their own campus until at least January 2027 as the district keeps working through moisture and mold problems — a far longer displacement than the roughly one month first floated.
Students have been relocated to Stone Ranch Elementary, where the district installed six portable classrooms in a staff parking lot. Officials had initially hoped to have children back by September 21.
It isn't the only affected campus: visible mold also turned up in at least one classroom at Black Mountain Middle School in Rancho Peñasquitos.
