One of Balboa Park's anchor institutions hit a milestone in 2026: the San Diego Museum of Art marked its centennial, a hundred years after opening, with the exact anniversary falling on February 28.

Its flagship retrospective, 'SDMA 100 Years' — photographs, film and ephemera tracing the museum's history — ran from January 24 through July 26. The centennial celebration has carried on across the year with additional exhibitions along El Prado.
